Project Overview.

Cap-Z is Australia’s premium headwear & streetwear e-commerce store, offering a wide range of caps, hats, sports team headgear, apparel and accessories. Their brand caters to enthusiasts of sports/teams, fashion, and urban culture. The goal of the website was to provide a high-quality online shopping experience: letting users browse brands, team gear, new drops, trending items, and make purchases with ease—with a look and feel that reflects Cap-Z’s position as a style leader.

Process & Challange

1. Discovery & Strategy

  • Understood Cap-Z’s audience: sports fans, streetwear lovers, brand followers (New Era, Mitchell & Ness etc.), and fashion-forward users who expect curated selections and frequent new releases.

  • Defined site goals:
    • Showcase new drops, trending collections, big brand/team collaborations.
    • Make browsing and filtering by brand, team, style easy.
    • Provide clear info on shipping, returns, size guides.
    • Engage users via rewards, offers, and brand identity (“Cap-Z Army” etc.).

2. Design & User Experience

  • Developed a clean, bold UI, with high-quality imagery of hats / apparel, strong typography, plenty of white/negative space so products pop.

  • Set up clear navigation menus: Headwear → Apparel → Accessories, plus shop by team / brand / new drops / sale.

  • Featured promotional banners, trending product sections, “what’s new”, “shop by brand” etc. to help users discover.

  • Incorporated loyalty/rewards feature (“JOIN THE #CAPZARMY”), subscription / first order discount calls to action.

3. Development & Performance

  • Ensured the site is responsive and mobile friendly—users often browse on phones.

  • Optimized product images and used lazy-loading so that the many high-res product visuals don’t slow down load speeds.

  • Integrated multiple payment options (AUD, PayPal, Apple Pay etc.) for friction-free checkout.

  • Implemented essential info: size guides, shipping & delivery policy, returns & exchanges, customer support.
